Nintendo Miiverse

Nintendo's Miiverse, while definitely not the best social site, I still like it for what it is. On this post, I'll talk about what I like and dislike about Nintendo's social platform. Nothing too deep, just shooting out some thoughts.

Wii U

Happy New Year! This would be my last post from 2015. Thinking back, I've got a lot to be thankful for but I'll keep those personal things off the blog or perhaps on a different entry.

Anyhow, I just want to ramble on with my latest toy (sorta) bought around early November. :)

ESGS 2015

E-Sports and Gaming Summit 2015 at SMX
So, this is the first time for me to go ESGS or anything gaming centered. The entrance fee for what was there was kinda a bit steep but anyways still had a good time thanks to my buddies.

This entry would mostly consist of pics, so nothing really to read here. As if really writing anything. Haha. Oh, I did take a bit of pictures of cosplayers.. so that's a thing. Enjoy?

Last Quarter 2015

Awesome graffiti seen while going to work.

Right then, last quarter of the year now. I'll try to have this on a monthly basis coz i noticed I've been trying to just cram stuff here in one post. Hmm, but this may cause shorter posts. Oh well, lets see how this goes.

Mid 2015, Back from wherever..

Hope, Anger, Avarice, Will, and Fear
Long time, no post.. a severely long time. Kinda been thinking of doing either a monthly post... most probably i'd bum out and do quarterly one instead.

Anyways, I'll try cram down some general goings-on to catch up on this.

Nintendo Direct Pre E3 2012

Pretty excited for this, I've been pretty much a Nintendo fan since my Famicom. Now this makes me think a bit about the Nintendo Wii, I never had one. Hmm, I wonder if Wii U will be fully backward compatible.

100 Yen: The Japanese Arcade Experience

100 Yen The Japanese Arcade Experience
So looking forward to this. Two of my favorite things combined, the Japanese culture and video games. I'm pretty sure I posted something here about me learning Japanese (but had to put it aside for the time being).

More ramblings and trailer on the jump

RetrowareTV

Stumbled upon this a month or two back, I do love how some of my sites do cross-promotions which led me to this place. Anyways, RetrowareTV is a nice site with a collection of shows that (as you would notice on the logo) does reviews, articles and videos on Videogame related stuff.

Click more for some of my thoughts on the site and some of the shows.

Focus, focus, focus...

Must play them all!!
Multitasking is a nice skill and all but its not something you'd want to use on everything. As it is, I lose my focus on most of the things I do. Now with videogames, not the best idea; especially if you're playing several games at one time. So this is quick list of the games I have yet to finish and want to finish.

Dungeons and Dragons Anthology Master Collection

Oh Dungeons & Dragons, I missed how much time I wasted with you.
So this is the Dungeons and Dragons Anthology Master Collection. Seeing this in the local game shop, I had some slight reservations in getting it. I had copies of all the games here except for one but getting through the worlds they setup there had me buy this again. Also, my old CD copies are getting unreliable.

Mario on the streets

Just a quick post, thought this was pretty cool. Also, I find the videos at Vimeo more enjoyable and focused. Youtube is fine and all but the videos there gets messy really fast.

Game Boy Micro

I finally gave in, I got a Game Boy Micro for a pretty nice deal, brand new of course. Ideally, I wanted the 20th Anniversary Edition, but since the whole Game Boy Micro line has been discontinued I just settled with this. I've been mulling about with the purchase but since I've had good experiences with the Nintendo and its products, I went ahead.  :)

Baldur's Gate Countdown

Countdown finished...
Earlier this week, there was a peculiar countdown on the Baldur's Gate website. Picked up the info from my RSS feeds, and this did get me excited. I love the Baldur's Gate series for the PC, best RPG series I ever played. Yet, I haven't finished them all. I have this nasty habit of restarting games if I left them idle for a long time.

Retro Game Challenge (Game Center CX)

I'm happy to have bought a copy this game, I have played this game before but had a hard time looking for a copy locally but it was worth it. Basically this game is like a collection of games, as the title advertises it is 8-bit Retro Games from the NES (Family Computer)

Abobo's Big Adventure

8bits of Awesome, major nostalgia trip. :)

Finally, Abobo's Big Adventure! Play as that bad-ass henchmen from the Double Dragon series to save your kid Aboboy (yep, awesome name).  Go through multiple 8-bit worlds the NES era ranging from Double Dragon, Mario, Zelda, Megaman and more!

Rokko-Chan

I wonder if she has brother named Roll?
Inspired by one of the longest running game franchises, here is Rokko-chan. It's basically a Rockman or Megaman clone for the US market. I prefer to use Rockman as this was what I grew up with, us having family computers here in Asia.
Lookit those intense cute eyes... of death!
Anyways, everything is pretty much here. It has 8-bit tunes, 8-bit graphics, cute to bizarrely named robot masters, pellet shooters, mad scientist/doctor and yes, platforming goodness. All this is running on your internet browser, as long as you have flash enabled you are good to go. The controls are pretty tight and the keys can be re-mapped. I yet have to try a gamepad, it's on the FAQ but in Japanese.

So here are the links

Mario Mario Mario... Luigi!

When I learned 100 lives trick, it was pure awesome. And also, I hate you Hammer Bros.

My most fave video game characters, Mario and Luigi. I actually like Luigi better coz of the green overalls. Anyhow, so I've been building up my Mario collection and got these bit art displays. Don't know what they are really called or who made them; wish I can track more of them down if ever.

Anyhow, this end of the year Nintendo released two major Mario games. Super Mario 3D land and Mario Kart 7, both games are a joy to play. Super Mario 3D Land, awesome game and should have been the launch title with the 3DS unit. Solid game but wish the game was longer or a bit harder.  As for Mario Kart 7, I'm not a guy for cars but I always enjoyed playing Mario Kart. Fun game, lots of replay value and there is of course the WiFi matches and community where it would definitely extend the game's replay value. :)

Well, that's my take on it, so click on the break for the game reviews from Gametrailers

Super Mario 30th Annivesary

Mario, one of the best video game characters. Happy 30th!

Video games and time...

My taste for video games have mostly changed now... I've been much of an RPG gamer before but due to the demands of life in general I have enjoying more basic games like platform games and arcade games. Anyhow, enough of the blabber. Lately I've been enjoy some excellent retro (16-bit) games on my laptop. I'll try to put them up here in their own entry when I can and some review of sorts.

PS: Also, got me a new controller (as seen above) and I'm loving it.
