100 Yen: The Japanese Arcade Experience

100 Yen The Japanese Arcade Experience
So looking forward to this. Two of my favorite things combined, the Japanese culture and video games. I'm pretty sure I posted something here about me learning Japanese (but had to put it aside for the time being).

More ramblings and trailer on the jump

Pray for Japan!

PRAY FOR JAPAN
These crappy shots are brought to you by my phone and my shaky hands

Was really keen to make a donation to help Japan in their time of need. Maybe its a way thanks for all the childhood memories they gave me, the anime, video games, goofy sketches and some obscure shows in the local channels (Ch. 13 "Japan Now").  Anyways, on the same week where tragedy happened, I was able to run up a small donation towards Red Cross Ph. via Globe. Now earlier this week, JICA had a stand in RCBC where you can make a donation as well. I did make another donation but didn't had the mind to take pics of the attendants whom were Japanese. So all I got was these crappy pics; nonetheless here they are. Hehe. I wonder if they would extend till next week.

Tsukasa, my new little muse. :D

Tsukasa Hiragi of Lucky Star swearing at the heat.

On a long over due whim (if that made any sense) I finally bought a small poseable school girl figure. I always wanted to have a small muse/model to toy with while going through the interwebs and studying.

Magic Slate

Got this cheap-o Magic Slate thing for my Kana practices. At least this will cut my paper consumption for a while. The name of the thing seems to be a bit off, oh well...

Back from my super hiatus.

I'M BACK!!!!

Well, I'm back from my unholy hiatus; not that I'm planning to blog often again but I'm doing this just for kicks. A lot happened since my last post but I won't be going to those. Just want to post that, I finally got my Nihonggo classes going. :D

Here are my current favorite sites to visit for my learning and references.
Note: Bought Wario there quite cheaply, now if I can get a decent looking King Koopa. If ever, I might even go into collecting the whole koopa crew.

The fuel for learning... sorta

Just got home around 12:40pm and just finished lunch, quite tired but that's okay. I spent my morning (after my shift) in the Japanese library photocopying a book for basic Kanji. The thing cost me around P230, but still a bargain I'd say. Now I just need to check for any missing pages and have them bound into book form.

Edumikashun....

Well, I'm somewhat happy with my progress in learning Nihongo, considering I just started again around mid-June. Found some great tips on from an e-book on how to easily learn any foreign language. So far it helps.

Everyday I try to learn something new, be it memorizing the writing, finishing an audio lesson or just practice. I'm considering to make something like an online journal of how I've been doing on my studies, it should be a daily thing. Probably I'll create a new blog for that. Well, that's all for now.

Note to self: Should install Adobe Flash and my drawing tablet to make those quick doodles and not end up snatching pics off the net.

Nanashi No Game

What do you get when you mix Square Enix and J-Horror? You get this! Nanshi No Game (The Game with No Name). This is one of the reasons why I study Japanese, they have the most kick ass games.

Plot as per Wikipedia:
Rumors have been circulating about a cursed role-playing game; anyone who plays it dies seven days after starting if they have not completed it by then.

Learning Japanese

Around a week before April I got myself to relearn all the Japanese I knew back from... hmm.. highschool, I think. Well, it's been a while obviously. I even remember taking a very short crash course (only a week) somewhere in Makati. So I have some very basic knowledge.

Earlier this week, I went ahead and dug out all my Japanese dictionaries and tutorials. I even loaded a My Japanese Coach for my Eris (NDS). So far I've got the Hirigana and Katana memorized, now slowly building my vocabulary. Yay!

Movie Remakes

Funny how Hollywood is remaking all these Asian Horror flicks. First it started with The Ring, then The Grudge, Dark Water and so on. Now they got One Missed Call and The Eye coming in. Interesting enough, Jessica Alba has taken the lead role for The Eye. At least she still looks hot here. Hehe.

I do like the effects they bring up to the plate. Sadly, most of the time they lose the Asian feel and over kill it with Hollywood glam. One remake I enjoyed was The Grudge.

Death Note: The Last Name

I just finished watching Death Note: The Last Name. I knew this movie would be good but not that this good. Too bad i don't have a good copy of the first Death Note movie.

death_note_2

Going back, I really liked how the plot twists and turns here. There were some dragging parts but it was totally covered by the whole story.

Ack, damn, i forgot i had a Crunchy Roll account, i guess i can watch Death Note (the first one) here.

Disgaea and WOW

Yet again, I found a couple of good finds in Destructoid.

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness* (PSP)
Yes, i know the title is not in sync with the picture.. :P

Disgaea Wallpaper

I'm gonna have to add this on my wish list. It looks and sounds good; check out the gameplay footage from Destructoid's Post, which they got from High-scoreonline. An interesting point was raised by the Destructoid readers; PSP is mostly just getting port overs and remakes of old games.
*(updated 08/08/07) Apparently, i was wrong, its a prequel. See the IGN preview here.

World Of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

WOW is getting to better and better. Me being a sucker for anything Gothic or Halloween related, loved this video clip. Check it, here.

How i wish i can afford getting a subscription for WOW, and yes I'd be signing up with the Undead Legion. :D

NSFW, and yes Japan is the greatest.

This post is definitely NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Every hot-blooded straight male would enjoy these clips with its sheer genius and a healthy serving of Etchi. Hahaha.

Its just amazing how the Japanese creates these crazy game shows.

Still with me? Click here and look for the clips named Takesigundan

Casshern

Casshern movie poster

I've been always a pack rat, both in real-life and digital wise. I got a hand full of movies and games to waste my days off on. Just a day ago I found the time to watch Casshern. A movie based on an old anime, Casshan. The movie was set on a digital backlot; imagine a combination of Sin City and Guyver. Very stylish and artsy, there are some parts that are a bit over done though but still good. Now i want to get back the DVD movie i gave away, Devilman. Sigh.. oh well.

Highschool of the Dead

One Manga - Highschool of the Dead

Just recently my ex-office bud gave me a link to what she knows I'd really enjoy; a manga on Zombies!! It's not only that, it has an ample amount of violence, fan-service (skimpy schoolgirls), and a good story line. Too bad, the translation stopped on Chapter 10.. bitin!!

Hmm.. now I'm considering to look around for more mangas of the same genre.. Clicky click..
