Testing, trials, prodding, ponderings

Damn. So many projects I want to go on but have to learn how to prioritize things. However, one thing is for certain, freelancing/working from home is a priority.

With that, I found myself setting up the game room as my new base of operation. Currently I'm writing a blog entry to not only clear my head but to hit on a couple things like doodling, writing, and getting a feel of I how it would be to work from home.

Drawing from the beginnings?

So, I'm trying to get back into drawing again as one of the skills I want to grow for this year at the least. My old Wacom Graphire isn't playing nice with the Windows 7 and up, so I decided to get an Intuos Art. So far, pretty satisfied with it. 😏

Getting ready for work

Back to the office for me later (graveyard shift), at least I had fun this weekend. Fun to me is just doing whatever I like even though I was just at home.

Oh yeah, just want to put this in. I am currently enjoying the micro blogging instant gratification that is plurk. Yey. Zzz...

Balls...

Well, this is my second eve in my new job. Its generally fine; as most you people know I'm a complainer but I'm trying to avoid that mind set lately. Soo here we go, got me a picture of some balls in the office. Yeah, I'm being stupid again. Haha.

Interview day and a dilemma...

Random pic while on my job hunt; doodled on it using my SE P990i

Just a quick post. I've been out all day just for two job interviews. Geez, im currently on a dilemma; the one that has been plaguing me for the longest time.

Big Company
+ stable company with high pay, lots of tech things to learn.
- entry level, high-stress, schedule shifting, social life wrecker (as if I have any)

Small Company
+ non-entry level, low stress, fixed office hours, good for the social life (whats left it)
- low pay, nothing new to learn, company stability is iffy

Oh yeah, I haven't had any feedback from any yet. Damn it, I just worry too much...

AVGN Art post

A couple days back, I went and visited Mr. AVGN's site just to snag up some cool fan art dedicated to his character. To my surprise, I got my fan art featured on his site. Haha. I'm no fanboy but I'm sure happy about it. :D

Here is the original post with my fan art submitted. Want more Nerd art? Check them out here.

One day Racket and Doodles

Yesterday was interesting to say the least. I had a one-day racket where in we were to test a voice activated transcription software. It was certainly different, kind of tiring though; specially since I laid my throat to rest for quite a long time now. At least I scored 1.5k for just less than 6hours worth of work. Oh yeah, lunch and snacks were on them of course. :D

Now for some doodles; I've been putting this off for a while now but since I had the time yesterday. I took some random photos and just edited them on my P990i. I still have a long way to go to make this good but it was certainly entertaining.

Must concentrate

Lately, I've been actively reading stuff on the net and blogging more. I've never been a wide reader due to my lack of concentration skills; I get easily frustrated and distracted. To suppress my pseudo ADHD, I moved my PC to another room downstairs. So there is no TV, no PSP and no distraction. Well, it seems be working well.

Sweeney Todd

Once again, I am late to watch one of the great movies of 2007, or is it early 2008. Oh well. I just love Tim Burton's way of either breathing (twisting the) life into his works. I so love the visuals, lighting, textures, the overall mood.

Make no mistake, this movie is not for the fearful of blood. Well, it was an interesting combination, the fact it is a musical but a horror flick of sorts.

Also I enjoyed the songs, and how I wish I could get Sweeney's accent. I guess at least how they spoke in old London. Hehe.

Speed Racer, Gooooo!!!

As I readied myself to watch Speed Racer, I knew this would be just a kid flick. One of those movies you'd watch only once. Well, I was pleasantly wrong; it was a good watch and I’d watch it again but the race scenes only though.

The story was weak at best; the attractant for me was the array of epilepsy inducing visuals. Wonder how drunks and junkies would react to the visuals, probably they'd be sweating like Michael Jackson in a Boy Scout’s meeting.

All in all, I had fun. And yes, better watch it with friends or while your shit-faced and high. Hehe.

The beard will devour you!!!

Can you defeat the beard!? Check out this excellently made game called Castle Crashing the Beard by Boom Toons.

I've been visiting and admiring the work they have on Newgrounds for several years now. Wow, didn't think it has been that long. They have variety of Flash based movies and games. They are mostly made up misc net citizens and is free for anyone to submit to. Now they have a gaggle of great animators and programmers there, but one of them is hitting it big.

Dan Paladin has this definite style that is soo simple but very appealing. Hmm, simply put its just violent lil toons thats makes you either go "awww" or "wow" (sadistically). Also, Tom Fulp (Founder of Newgrounds) had a key role with the programming for the games as far i know. All in all, its just all awesome.

Dan has several projects that flew off as exceptional video games (Alien Hominid) and now he is coming up with Castle Crashers. Damn, i wish this game would be released for the PC as well.

Oh yeah, here are some links and his great works:

8-bit Goodness!!

Earlier last week, I went and defeated Dracula for the second time on Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP. I had so much fun that I decided to go back to roots of Castlevania. Back to the 8-bit goodness that is NES (Family computer for us Asians).

So I went to load up the NES emulator for the PSP. As an added bonus i got to revisit all those classic games i loved soo much when I was a kid. I got TMNT, TMNT 2 Arcade, Contra, Super C, Dr. Mario, Metroid and so much much more.

I love the first TMNT game, it was damned difficult but i had fun playing through it. I remember how I use to draw maps for some levels; left the console on while eating lunch or dinner just for me to finish the damn game. I also recall the time where someone would accidentally kick the unit and of course causing the system to freeze on me. Fun times :D

PS: I just finished the TMNT this morning but with the aid of save states to get me through the harder levels. Haha. I'm lame.

Angry Video Game Nerd

Since its the holy week, no good shows on TV (as far as i'm concerned). I just wasted away in front of the PC and watched one of my most favorite thing in the world, video games. Yep, good ol' escape from your miserable life video game stuff. So i got into the ScrewAttack archives from Gametrailers and on to the Angry Video Game Nerd. All fun watches.

So here, I'm suppose to focus on Mr. AVGN (Angry Video Game Nerd) for this post so here goes. Now I really love this guy; he has everything that i enjoy. His personal site, Cinemassacre, showcases his fave Horror Flicks and of course the video games. Well, video rant reviews. Haha.

Note: Hmm, im planning to either put a pic or at least a doodle for every blog post i, uhm, post. Yep, the key word is planning, again. Whee..

Update: Damn, Deviantart is on system maintenance can't upload my work yet. Oh well, maybe later.

Art Attack by Destructoid

For a while now I've been frequenting Destructoid for my daily video game and geek dose. They have this Art Attack Friday on every, uh, Friday US time of course. A good place to get art inspiration for myself, whatever is left of it. Sigh. I remember when i was a kid, i just copy and copy cartoons, comics, toy boxes, and the funny pages till i get the hang of the art style. Hmm... i guess i better do that again. Yep, thats it, im gonna go try copying stuff, not the stealing copying. Bah, I'm rambling... ooh loookit the tag on this post! Ramblings! Yey....

Oh, here also is tag they have Artsy Fartsy. More fun video game geekery ranging from art concepts to toys.

Well, its time again. Got a loads on my to do list.

I need to dive in and sort out my emails, online photo albums, room, hard disk, closet, drawers, etc.. If time even permits, i'd like to doodle emoticons for my blog, and finally get started on the Dreads proj.
